Did you know that primary (baby) teeth start to form between the sixth and eighth weeks in utero, and permanent teeth begin to form in the twentieth week in utero?
It's amazing to me that just one year ago, today, Jadon looked like this:

Okay, so maybe the ultrasound from the week before was a little clearer ;-) I like to call this one "Hi, Mom!"
Pretty amazinging that this same little image on a screen has two teeth peeping through his bottom gums, just one year later, isn't it??? How does it all happen? I mean, what did Jamie or I have to do with any of this? We're his parents, I know, but c'mon! I have not a clue how these teeth got in his little mouth or why they have decided to begin appearing now or if mommy will suffer too much, if he now decides to bite while he's eating...yikes!
For me (and Jamie too, of course) we don't know the answers to all of the intricate details of how Jadon came to be knit together exactly the way he is. We've really only known the little cutie for five and a half months ;-)
"Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that's what I had in mind for you." But I said, "Hold it, Master God! Look at me. I don't know anything. I'm only a boy!" God told me, "Don't say, 'I'm only a boy.' I'll tell you where to go and you'll go there. I'll tell you what to say and you'll say it. Don't be afraid of a soul. I'll be right there, looking after you." God's Decree. (Jeremiah 1:5-8, The Message)
We are thankful that the Creator of All Things took care of Jadon, before he even breathed his first breath. We're blessed that He chose us to raise him, and we desire to do so according to His beautiful and perfect will for Jadon's life. That's right...God new Jadon before any of us ever thought of him. He knows the number of hairs on his head, the number of days he will live on this earth, and the work that has been set aside, uniquely created for Jadon James Russell Salamanca. He "knows all about (him)!" What a Wonderful Maker!
For now, we care for Jadon in the smallest of things. We bathe him, change his diaper, love him, hug him, kiss him, snuggle him, pray for him, read to him, sing to him, dance with him, teach him...you get the picture. We love discovering each day the hidden details of God's design within him. Right now we enjoy learning which foods he likes (all of them, we think), and helping him get through this process of cutting teeth :-)
Enjoy this clip of one of his first feedings of cereal taken on October 18th:
