In this house, we do what's practical most of the time. Sometimes, like when we've spent a small fortune to get rid of some pesky little gnat-like bugs in our master bathroom, we call for professionals to help us out. Most of the time, we do things on our own (haircuts, dry cleaning, family photo shoots, gourmet meals, birthday cakes, and landscaping) or we call people like Grandpa (car problems, plumbing issues, household repairs and upgrades). So I've been cutting Jadon's hair for his entire (32-month-long) life, but alas, it was time to call in the big dogs (AKA the ladies of Aveda).
Since I had gone as long as I possibly could without a trim or color myself (October maybe??...all I know is the gray was outta control!), I called to see if Jessica would mind giving Jadon his first real haircut. They said it was fine, and she'd just do it, while I was processing. Perfect. We left Macy with Gramma and Grandpa for the day, since she was pretty much done nursing for good, and took our big boy with us to Market Common. The boys dropped me off, then went to share a cupcake and play with Thomas the Train at B&N, followed by some playground time.
After my color was on, I texted Jamie to bring him in. As soon as he came in the door, the ladies were swooning :) They loved his eyes, his hair, his little jeans, his shoes...well, duh ;) Jamie later asked me if I thought they were just saying all of those things. C'mon! Look at this handsome little man :)
During...Jamie gets the award for Father of the Year again, since he thought beforehand to grab a lollipop from the house to take, just in case he didn't want to sit still. Since he did, he got his reward afterward. He hung out with Daddy a while longer, while Jamie snapped some pics of scenery around the area for potential photo shoots for me.
When I was finished, they met me back at the salon, and we walked across the street to have dinner (for what seems like the first time in years, but really only since our Anniversary in October). We used the gift card Jamie had given me for Christmas to Gordon Biersch. We thought it would be so easy without Macy, but really it wasn't the most relaxing time we've ever had. Jadon spilled my water all over himself, just minutes after we were seated. He only wanted to eat bread. He stood up on the booth, and fell on the floor and hurt his head. I mean, don't get me wrong, Macy being with Gramma made things much easier, but I couldn't help but try to remember what things used to be like, when Jamie and I ate out pre-children.
