Just before Nurse Carrie came into the room (sleeping peacefully)...
When Nurse Carrie entered the room and started talking...
Time for shots (that's Gramma holding his hand)...
Getting love from Mommy afterwards...
Looking at the Christmas tree lights with daddy afterwards...
At his last appt. in October, Jadon was only in the 10th percentile for his weight. He's still weighs a little less than most babies his age, but he's quite a bit longer, and may have a bigger head :) Here are the stats:
Weight: 16lbs. 8 oz. (25th percentile)
Length: 28 inches (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17 3/4 (75th percentile)
His next appt. is not until March, and is only a check-up, so no shots thankfully :) It's worth noting that Mommy is doing much better with shots than four months ago. The first time, I cried and felt terribly guilty. This time, as you can tell, I was able to stand back and take pictures. All in all, Jadon did okay this time. He did run a low grade fever and slept a lot more than usual yesterday, but he's back to his cheerful self today.
Jamie and I watched a great sermon online on Sunday evening by Lon Solomon from McLean Bible Church in VA. He said he can remember seeing mothers weeping with gratitude, when the polio vaccine was first made available. He said you never see anything like that these days because we have forgotten or never known what it is like to watch someone suffer with the disease. He made the connection between that and the fact that many of us, as Christians, forget to weep with gratitude and thanksgiving to God for giving us His son Jesus, for Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, and our ability to spend Eternity in Heaven with Him because of it...all of this, when not one of us is worthy or deserving of it. (See the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector in Luke 18).
Thank You, Lord, that babies in this country have immunizations available to them. It's so worth a few minutes of pain and tears to have a lifetime of protection against deadly viruses. Thank You for the free gift of salvation through Your Son's life, death, and resurrection. May we weep with gratitude in remembrance of his birth, this time of year especially. Thank You for the gift of our son Jadon, so we can better understand the significance of this sacrifice.
