Tag...I'm it!

My friend Tara tagged me, and I am supposed to write 6 random things about myself.

Here are the tagging rules:
1. Post the rules on your blog
2. Write 6 random things about yourself
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post
4. If you're tagged, DO IT and pass on the tag

1. When I was in 6th grade, I used to not only watch Dance Party USA, but I taped it on VHS too. I was obsessed, to say the least. I am embarrassed to say that I actually wrote one of the shows "regulars." His name was Chris Tulley. Oh how I loved that 14 year old boy. He ruled in the dance offs ;) I did actually get a response...a general letter about him stating that he got so many fan letters that it was impossible to respond personally to each one :/ Thankfully they took the show off the air about a year later, so I was able to check back into reality. If I had to watch one more summer special "Live from Wild Water" in New Jersey, I may have begged my mom to relocate there. Oh, Lord! I just remembered that I my mom was single, during that time, and I used to tell her that I wanted to her to go on a date with the show's producer. I still remember his name...Don Amato. How ridiculous is that???

2. I love Christian music, but honestly there are few CDs I could listen to over and over again without getting tired of them (and I REALLY love Paul Colman, Chris Tomlin, and Jadon Lavik). But I could listen to the following artists all day everyday: Lionel Richie, Hall & Oates, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Colbie Callait, and John Mayer (only the CD "Room for Squares" and a few other specific songs off his other CDs). I actually saw John Mayer in concert for $10.00, before anyone ever knew his name. There was likely less than 500 people at the show! That'll never happen again :/

3. I could go without TV for the rest of my life, if I had to. Cable is included in our Home Owners Association fees, but to be honest, the TV is only on at our house about five hours/week. With that being said, I shamefully admit to be a reality show junky. I have never seen an episode of Grey's Anatomy, and I can't imagine watching reruns of Friends ever (though I used to watch it years ago). The ONLY shows I really watch are reality shows. I have watched The Real World on MTV, since it started way back in 1990 or '91. The only season I missed was "Austin" because I had moved back to Morgantown (2001-02) and didn't have cable for a while. How excited am I for the new season for Real World/Road Rules Challenge??? My ABSOLUTE favorite reality show (possibly ever) is "Run's House." LOVE that family!!! A few other reality shows that I watch intermittently: The Real Housewives of (wherever they are that season)...Atlanta is coming in October(Yay!), The Hills (sadly not reality, I know), Jon and Kate plus Eight, most shows on HGTV, and late night shows on Food Network (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is a fav).

4. I believe one day that I will speak in front of tens of thousands of people at a Christian conference. Since having Jadon, I see that happening MUCH further down the road than I initially thought, but I still see it happening one day. I have a passion for public speaking in the right arena.

5. Before I was a Christian, I wanted to join the Peace Corps. and give up all material things to serve others. Since becoming a Christian, I have had an undying desire to go on mission trips to Tiajuana (working with street kids who are forced into prostitution and are addicted to huffing...saw them on TV, and it broke my heart), Romania (working in orphanages), Haiti (just such a poor country...so sad), and Africa (working to prevent children from being taken captive by the LRA and being forced to kill others...see www.invisiblechildren.org).

I have missed so many opportunities to go on mission trips, due to being pregnant, being in the process of moving, etc. that I cannot count them :/ Now that I will soon be a mother of two, I only imagine loading the entire family up for these missions...so likely not for SEVERAL years. Honestly, there are times I dream of selling it all and living a missionary life. Jamie can't see this vision at all...only short-term missions for him.

6. My mom's parents and five of their six children all smoked (all except my mom, thank God!) and most have had their lives cut short or their health affected by cigarettes. My uncle Chuck had a cancerous tumor removed from his leg, when I was 11 years old, and he came to live with us. When I was 12, the cancer had spread to his lungs, and he was unable to quit smoking even then...terrible addiction! I was in the room, when he died at our house, three days before my 13th birthday. After hearing the fluid in his lungs, and watching him struggle even with oxygen, I vowed I would NEVER smoke, and I NEVER would. Maybe this isn't so "Christian" of me, but I swear I will break my children's fingers, if I ever catch them with a cigarette! Given the right time and place in life, I would go to Washington and take on the tobacco companies...love the Truth.com ads!

To be honest, there is no point in me tagging six bloggers because everyone on my list (minus Tara) has given up on blogging. SO I am asking a few non-blogging friends to either start blogging again or to simply start a blog:

1. Janine!!! I'm with Tara on this one. You're life is in such an awesome place of transition, and I don't know how else to keep up with you! DO IT! For me and Tara???
2. Tifftastic---how many times have you changed urls for your blog in the last year??? I can't keep up with the changes in your life either...and you crack me up, so entertain me, please.
3. Lily (soon to be Salamanca)---it's only fair that Jamie and I get a peek into your and Allen's married life :) You'll be thankful, if you start this pre-wedding and pre-babies. C'mon your future kids will love to look back and read about your lives before they came ;)
4. Auntie Em---why am I bothering? I know, I know...you have too much reading to do for school. It would be so nice to look back one day into your life of singlehood, once you are married. Don't know why I just wasted my time typing this. You hate blogging, but your few entries were enjoyable to read :)
5. JAMIE SALAMANCA!!! What's up, son? (Yeah, I just called you son.) Just think, you'll get a break from helping me watch Jadon because I will give you time to blog. If not, you're the one stuck watching him and the other baby, while Mommy gets a break to blog. So whatta ya say, suckah?
6. Colette---you know you want to start an online pregnancy journal...followed by an online baby journal. How else can I keep up with things in Pittsburgh? I need belly pics and then baby pics :)
*** Anyone who reads this blog and gets to snoop at my life ;) It's only fair that I get a peek into yours, isn't it? So start a blog of your own, and email me the link. C'mon, entertain a stay-at-home mom, will ya? I do have time to read a blog here and there :)

I am only responding out of the guilt I would feel if I lied to you and said that I didn't read my name on your blog. :P okay, you tagged me but i am not sure when i will get a chance to blog - maybe when the weather is crappy and I can't get off the couch cause my belly is too huge (may come sooner than i want to think!).

I will say that I had a feeling I was being called out just as I finished reading "the rules". The feeling was mixed - Pleased and flattered that "Oh, she thought of me" coupled with the impending dread of obligation to follow "the rules".

How about I give it a little time to mull over?...

Know I love you guys and think of you daily.

Xoxo, Colette
