Christmas 2009: Jadon will be 2 1/2 years old, Macy 10 months. Jadon will be talking up a storm, seemingly always pulling at the front of his pants and telling us he has to "potty." ;) He will be SO excited at the sight of Santa Claus, festively decorated trees and houses, and the thought of opening the presents under the tree (unlike this year). He will help us go shopping for an Angel Tree child and begin to understand the importance of giving, rather than receiving. We will study the true, Biblical meaning of Christmas every night, and by Christmas, he will have somewhat of an understanding of who Jesus was and is to him and our family. I'm thinking he will be great at passing on his knowledge to his baby sister who will, by the way, be in the beginning stages of walking...or at least cruising from Gramma's couch to the coffee table. I'm going to predict that coffee table will be the source of most of the scraps and/or bruises on her hair-bow-decorated little head.
If it hasn't been purchased by then (i.e. for his 2nd b-day), Jadon will get an easel and art supplies from Mommy & Daddy, and baby Macy will get a doll house with all of the trimmings...or maybe a new baby doll, stroller, and mini diaper bag filled with all of the essentials to care for her little bundle :) Mommy is excited about this!!! One thing is for sure, and I will stand by this, so check in with me next year...I refuse to have a home filled with too many toys. I don't want to raise materialistic and over-indulged children who think they say "gimme" and always get what they want. Trust me, Gramma and Grandpa know the rule---if you buy it, it stays at your house...and please don't buy too much...stick with the eduational, pretend play, and building stuff please :)
Mommy will be thrilled that she only has two months left to breastfeed baby Macy, however, this exact thought will spark her desire to start thinking about baby #3 (I'm not getting any younger here, people!). It will have been a lot of work, but I will be back to a healthy weight and be working out at least five days/week and eating right. For Christmas, I believe I will ask Daddy for some upgrades to our house (hardwood floors??? a stainless steel dishwasher??? or maybe a queen size canopy bed, so we won't be crowded with our babies sleeping with us...uh oh...still?). On the other hand, maybe Mommy and Daddy will take a long weekend trip away somewhere as a Christmas gift to each other...nice! I can't even begin to imagine where because ANYWHERE with just the two of us sounds too good to be true, and really wouldn't matter to me or Daddy, I'm sure. All of this is contingent upon Daddy's new job, of course, which is coming very soon...I am certain :)
A few other predictions: Aunt Lily and Uncle Allen will be expecting their first little bundle of joy :) Justin will be driving!!! Auntie Em will be living in the Congo, working for the Peace Corps...because she's going to save the world ;) It is there she will meet her future husband who works for Doctor's without Borders. They will immediately begin planning their wedding that will be held in 2010 at Huntington Beach State Park, where her big sister will serve as photographer, Jadon will be the ring bearer and little Macy will steal the show as flower girl. Gramma will not notice what Auntie Em's dress even looks like because she will be too busy oohing and ahhing over her grandbabies :) Deal with it, Em. You're no longer the baby...or even the second baby...you're a big girl now :/
Christmas 2013: Jadon will be 6 1/2, Macy will be approaching 4! Jadon will be a sports fanatic by then, so most of his requests from Santa will center around those things. He will have mastered basketball and soccer, so will ask Grandpa for a skateboard and/or new BMX bike and custom-built ramp, in order to broaden his horizons. He will be an avid reader, so Mommy and Daddy will ask that everyone give him a favorite book for Christmas. Macy will likely be obsessed with playing little mommy to her baby sister, Ella Gray, who will be approaching a year old by then. Macy will ask for the new baby doll that potties real-like poop in her diapers and spits up realistic breastmilk on her bibs ;) She and Jadon will be the best of friends and love going on family bike rides, peddling their own bikes without training wheels, of course. Baby Ella will trail behind Daddy in the bike trailer, just as her big brother and sister did, when they were toddlers :)
In 2013, big brother Justin will be a sophomore in college! He will be Jadon's hero, and may bring his girlfriend with him, when he visits us that summer ;) Jadon and Macy will be ecstatic to spend time with him! Aunt Lily and Uncle Allen will have two children by this time...I'm guessing two girls who have TONS of black, wavy hair and always wear hair bows that match their outfits. Uncle Allen will be even more protective of his girls than anyone would have imagined. You will find the doting parents at Disney Land nearly every weekend with their two little princesses :) Let's see...Auntie Em will be 30!!! Hahahaha...yes, you will be my age one day...very soon actually, Em :) She will split her time with her Doctor's without Border's husband between their home in the DC area and doing mission work in Africa. They will be planning to try to get pregnant the following year. Jadon, Macy, and Ella will get ANOTHER cousin in 2013 or 2014!
Christmas 2019: Jadon will be 11 1/2, Macy nearly 9, little Ella Gray 5...but wait...there is a new addition(!) In 2017, we adopted a baby boy internationally (can't tell you his name or the country he is from...I'm just not that good of a fortune teller), but I can tell you he is now 3 years old and LOVES playing soccer with his big brother Jadon and gets annoyed when Ella tries to put him in her baby doll stroller ;) Hold on!!! In 2019, I will be approaching 42 years old :/ All I can tell you is that Jamie and I are still happily married, loving every minute of life with our babies (no matter how many we are blessed with), wishing we could spend more time with our neices and nephews who don't live in the same city as us, and wishing out parents lived closer. I will have been serving in our church as a marriage counselor (since I FINALLY completed my Ph.D. in Christian counseling). Jamie will have been with his job for eight years, and will have a great 401K, so we can afford to help our kids with college expenses and take a few nice trips together here and there. In our spare time, we serve as small group ministry leaders in our home and love watching our kids play sports, going to their dance and music recitals, and taking short mission trips with them 1-2 weeks/year. By this time too, Jadon and Macy will have discovered their desire to be on the children's worship team, Jadon playing either keyboard or guitar, and Macy playing keyboard and singing...little sister Ella Gray will stand in awe and watch them, waiting for her day to sing her praises at church too ;)
Here we are around 2014:
Whatta life, huh? Smooth sailing. No problems (health, financial, or otherwise)...(yeah right!). No real bumps in the road. The pre-teen and even teenage years will be an absolute breeze! No arguments over chores, homework, choice of friends...nada! Just how life is for most people, right? In all honesty, the only "prediction" I can make for the next year, five years, or the rest of our days is that "for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." It's the best I can do, and I pray we do it well. It was fun to think about though ;)
